HTV5 Metal vs. HTV4 Metal – What’s the Difference?
Since their release, both HTV5 Metal and HTV4 Metal have been highly popular due to their sleek, modern design and solid construction. The heavier weight of the cage helps effectively suppress erections, making both models strong choices for users seeking control and restraint.
However, there are several important differences between the two versions:
Material & Water Resistance
Both HTV5 Metal and HTV4 Metal are made from 316L stainless steel.
The difference is that the HTV5 uses an alloy button locking mechanism, while the HTV4 uses a traditional brass key lock system.
Because of the alloy button structure, HTV5 Metal is not recommended for prolonged water immersion, such as swimming or extended water-based activities.
HTV4 Metal, on the other hand, is more suitable for water exposure.
Stability & Long-Term Wear
The cage itself is relatively heavy, weighing approximately 9.1–12.3 oz (258–350 g).
Due to its structural design, the HTV5 button locking system is slightly less rigid than the HTV4 key lock system. As a result:
- HTV4 Metal is better suited for long-term continuous wear and maximum stability.
- HTV5 Metal prioritizes convenience and quick locking, but with slightly reduced structural rigidity compared to HTV4.
- The HTV5 Resin version, however, is fully secure and does not have this stability concern.
Hand-Finished Craftsmanship & Ring Compatibility
Both HTV5 and HTV4 models are hand-polished and individually finished.
However, there is an important difference in ring compatibility:
- HTV5 cages and rings are not universally interchangeable. If you would like a cage-and-ring combo set, they must be purchased together in the same order. Before shipping, we will carefully match and fit the cage and ring to ensure proper alignment and a perfect fit.
- HTV4 cages and rings are interchangeable, so there is no compatibility concern.
